Business Insurance · Houston, TX
General liability, a business owner’s policy and the coverage around them, explained in plain words. I compare options from several carriers for Houston business owners, in English or Spanish.
Every business is different. I’ll help you match coverage to the work you actually do.
Covers claims that your business caused injury or property damage to others, like a customer’s fall.
Bundles general liability and business property into one policy, often a good fit for small offices.
Covers your building, equipment, inventory and furniture against covered losses, like fire or theft.
Covers claims that your advice or work caused a client a financial loss. Also known as E&O coverage.
Optional for private employers in Texas. When you carry it, it covers work injuries plus lost wages.
Covers the vehicles your business owns or uses for work, like job sites, deliveries or hauling gear.

If your business owns or rents space, or keeps equipment, inventory or furniture, commercial property coverage helps pay to repair or replace them after a covered loss. In Houston, I’ll also look at how wind, hail and flood are handled on your policy, because flood usually needs its own coverage.
If clients pay you for advice, designs, plans or professional services, a mistake or a missed detail can lead to a claim even when no one gets hurt. General liability usually doesn’t cover that kind of claim. Professional liability does.

Texas lets private employers choose whether to carry workers’ comp. If you carry it, it helps pay medical bills and lost wages when an employee is hurt on the job. If you don’t, there are rules you still have to follow, and your business takes on the risk of an injury claim. I’ll walk you through both sides so you can decide.

COMMON QUESTIONS

If clients pay you for advice or professional work, often yes. General liability usually doesn’t cover claims that your work caused a client a financial loss.
Does my home insurance cover my home-based business?
Usually not much. Business equipment and business liability often have low limits or none at all on a home policy. Tell me about your business and I’ll show you what fits.
What your business does, your address, number of employees, yearly revenue, any vehicles used for work, and your current policy if you have one.
